Podcast #52: So Your Friend Has a Higher Starting Salary Than You

Today’s episode kicks off with a discussion about the summer engagement fever that is sweeping the nation (or at least… Jess and Laura’s Instagram feeds). They talk about avoiding comparison and enjoying the life stage you’re currently in, which can be easier said than done.

Then, they get into today’s topic: what to do when your friend has a higher starting salary than you. It’s natural to feel jealous and upset. After all, you went to the same college, and had the same major. Why is she making practically 2x what you are?!

Starting Salary Comparison

The conversation dives into the (again, totally normal) feelings of jealousy and comparison, how to make the most of a meager salary, and how to cope with the Green Monster.

This episode is all about money: the feelings we attach to having or not having it, and how to develop our own sense of self outside of our salary.

The pair conclude by sharing their adulting moments of the week. Thanks for listening, besties!
