Podcast #49: Dealing with Casual Relationships

Casual relationships take many forms. You’ve got your hookups (also known as one night stands), friends with benefits, and even the undefined phase of dating.

We’re all for the sex-positive movement. And we support the idea that women (and all people) should engage in whatever types of sexual relationships they want to.

Yet sometimes, we end up in casual relationships as a result of loose boundaries and low self-esteem. Especially in your twenties, it’s easy to end up in a situationship that you didn’t ask for. In this episode, Jess and Laura discuss how you can figure out if casual relationships are right for you.

Casual Relationships

The pair talk about some of the challenges associated with them, and shine a light on the good aspects, too. They’re not all bad! For commitment-phobes, folks on the Asexual spectrum, or people who are just too busy to invest in a serious relationship, these provide a way for you to get it on without all the drama.

Your hosts end the episode with some advice for twenty-somethings on how to navigate these types of relationships. We’re all for having fun around here. Ideally, without going through heartbreak. The two lay out some ground rules for anyone interested in embracing the world of casual sex.
