Podcast #47: Graduating From College Unemployed
The pressure to secure a full-time job right after college graduation is real. Many of us spend senior year submitting dozens of applications in the hopes that we’ll have the perfect job lined up to start shortly after we receive our diplomas. But the reality is that most of us…don’t.
In this episode of the podcast, Jess and Laura discuss the experience of job hunting after college, and why it’s really not a bad thing (and quite normal) to be unemployed after you graduate.
Laura explains why she chose not to get a job right away, waiting until late September to start working. Jess describes the intense pressure she felt to have work locked down even before Christmas of senior year like many of her friends and peers.
The two attempt to put your mind at ease, and explain what you can do if you find yourself graduating unemployed. Plus, a comforting study from CNBC reveals that even pre-pandemic, almost half of all college graduates didn’t have a job lined up before they walked at graduation.
Tune in to this episode if you’re a new college grad without a job (yet), looking for some advice.
