Podcast #53: Managing Conflict with Roommates

In today’s episode, Jess and Laura recap their July 4th weekends, and the baby fever, house fever, and puppy fevers that resulted from it.

Then, the pair dive into the episode topic: managing conflict with roommates. It’s no secret that living with others can be hard. Jess and Laura discuss some of the challenges they’ve faced when living with roommates, and how they handled those situations (not always gracefully).

They offer some advice and practical tips on how to handle conflict, even if you’re conflict-averse (or if your roomie is). Jess and Laura explain why sometimes, the best solution is to confront them, in others to avoid them, and in the most dire cases, you might even need to talk to your landlord about it.

Check out episode five next (Post-grad living situations) for advice on how to select roommates after college to avoid getting to a point of conflict in the first place.

Thanks for listening, and see you next Monday, besties!

Laura was born at the beach in New Jersey, but she'd be the first to tell you her childhood was nothing like Jersey Shore. Sadly. When she's not writing, you can find her reading on her beloved Kindle, listening to true crime podcasts, or looking up adoptable cats.

Outside of her 9-5 as a writer, Laura is the owner of Looks by Laura, an online thrifted clothing boutique. She's the co-founder of Adultescence, a podcast and lifestyle website about navigating that challenging space between adolescence and adulthood. And she makes a mean eggplant parm.
